The Requirements Engineering Magazine is an independent online magazine, published every four months by IREB.
The Requirements Engineering Magazine shall serve as a platform for the active exchange of professionals on Requirements Engineering (RE). It is cost free in order to motivate as many professionals as possible to read the articles and thus give them the opportunity to expand their range of knowledge. Articles around the RE-topic are contributed by international professionals from the fields of BA and RE. Everybody is welcome to submit articles, may she/he be IREB member or not!
As the Requirements Engineering Magazine provides a global platform for the active exchange on RE, the articles solely reflect the authors’ viewpoints and do not necessarily express the opinion of the IREB; some articles might not represent the official position of IREB.
What a challenge – that was my first thought when I discussed the publication of an RE Magazine.
What an opportunity was my second thought…
After we had the discussion within IREB about publishing an RE magazine started, we got an overwhelming positive feedback. The decision process to go for it just took a few days and after it had been decided we tackled the concrete planning right away.
Pretty soon we faced manifold issues that we needed to resolve, and every single of them had a strong influence on the orientation and the quality of the magazine:
And much more!
No wonder, we decided to neglect the challenges in a first step and look at the opportunities instead:
With these opportunities in mind we were full of energy to master the challenges and we found answers to all of our questions, leading to the Requirements Engineering Magazine as you have just opened it.
Together with the valuable support from persons within IREB as well as from externals we overcame many hurdles which we faced on our way to the go-live of the magazine – and we know that we will have to overcome more hurdles throughout the lifetime of it.
However, from the experience we’ve made, we know that we will manage to handle that – and we are convinced that it’s worth the efforts! So my first thought was correct, it was a challenge! But the second thought was correct as well, it is a great opportunity – and we are really proud of what we have achieved!
Thanks to everyone who contributed to the Requirements Engineering Magazine!
