About IREB

The IREB

The International Requirements Engineering Board (IREB) e.V. has joined forces with the vision to create an international, professional basis for Requirements Engineering (RE) and to improve the knowledge in RE and its application, in order to give this discipline the importance and the orientation that corresponds to its added value for the industry.

The IREB is the developer and the holder of the CPRE (Certified Professional for Requirements Engineering) certification scheme, which stands for an elaborated three level certification concept.

Board composition and supporters

The IREB was created in 2006 by leading RE representatives, who come from business, consulting, training, research and science.
In the meantime it has become a worldwide renowned body of experts for the individual certification of professionals in Business Analysis and Requirements Engineering.
Though the CPRE certification scheme originated in Europe, it is now also supported by committed members in many countries ranging from North America and South America to Europe and Asia.

Independence

IREB is an independent not-for-profit organization.
The concept of the CPRE-certification follows the ISO/IEC 17024:2012 standard, which postulates the strict separation of training and certification. Thus the allocation of tasks to clearly separated and autonomous organizations ensures fairness and neutrality.
